Michael Michalsky closed Berlin Fashion Week, showing both men’s and women’s to electropop sets from Sweden’s Nonono and New York’s Ms Mr. For women, ultraflat shorts in slick black leather, white Swiss-dotted chevron cotton or fluttering, pleated silk chiffon were the highlight, particularly when shown with white shirts, silk tops and a straw suede and white baseball jacket. At times, however, the look leaned too heavily towards a teen aesthetic popularized by the German equivalent of “American Idol.”
Michalsky struck a stronger note for men with hoodies, narrow-lapelled sport coats, baseball jackets, Windbreakers and bombers, as well as hip casual pants and tailored sweats. The designer’s gray knits, blue and orange hues, muted camouflage prints, sailor collars and varsity stripe detailing were also appealing.
