This past season, Janice Alida walked a whopping 34 shows (spanning all four cities), but now the 22-year-old is preparing for the walk of all walks — down the aisle. But despite a packed show season and imminent wedding, Alida is disarmingly upbeat. It’s easy to see why she’s the modeling world’s latest hot commodity. Feline-featured with regal composure, Alida scored some of the most sought-after runway spots including Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Christopher Kane, Giles, Proenza Schouler and Richard Chai Love.

So you’re getting married soon. What will you wear?
I’ve literally never been more excited for anything in my life! My dress is from Pattis Bridal, which is based in California.
What’s it look like?
I wanted something completely unique. It’s lace head-to-toe. And then it fit me like a glove, so I knew it was the one. It’s my dream dress. It just seemed so different from almost everything else I’d seen.
How did you get into modeling?
I submitted my photos to a local agency at home, Lizbell Agency. I’ve been modeling full-time since my trip to Paris in June last summer. It’s been a whirlwind since then.
When did you come to New York?
Last November, but I’m moving here in September for good after I get married this summer.
If you weren’t a model, what would you be doing?
Maybe culinary school. I love to bake.
What would you do if you had tomorrow off?
I love being outside when it’s warm, so maybe longboarding. I love going out to eat and cooking, too. And of course I love doing everything with my fiancé! There’s a good chance that I might just be taking it easy and relaxing at home.
Who are your favorite designers?
Calvin Klein, Chloé, Celine, Victoria Beckham and The Row are my absolute favorites. I love simple, feminine, classic clothing.
Where do you like to go shopping in the city?
I haven’t explored enough yet! So far I just wander through SoHo if I need to buy anything.
Do you have any newly acquired beauty tips from your modeling experience?
Always wash your makeup off before sleep, and drink tons and tons and tons of water to keep your body in the best condition, especially your skin.
What are your ultimate goals in terms of modeling?
Just do the best I can, because it’s so hard to plan with this job. Ultimately, though, to have a platform to make a difference and speak for those who don’t have a voice.
What was your first runway season like?
This was my first season doing the whole round of shows in all of the major cities, and it was as exhausting as everyone says. It was a great experience getting to see so many designers and what goes on behind the scenes, and although it is so tiring, I’m excited for the next season.
What was it like landing Marc’s show, one of the most coveted of the season?
So, so exciting. It was like a big “Yes!” triumphant feeling! It was definitely the highlight of my season.
