Blustery winds in Los Angeles didn’t stop a dedicated group of shoe addicts from stepping out in style for a dinner that new mom Salma Hayek hosted for her friend, Sergio Rossi designer Edmundo Castillo.

A select group of guests gathered for the intimate dinner at the newly reopened restaurant Bastide, across the street from the luxe new Sergio Rossi store on

.

“I am short, and for me, this is really important: really high shoes that are comfortable to wear,” declared Hayek, who gave birth to daughter Valentina in September. “This is difficult to find. I hate being tortured to look good. I always feel when I wear his shoes, I feel like it’s an extension of myself, that I am a bigger, better version of myself – definitely a taller version of myself.”

Dinner guest Eva Chow even took some of the diners, including Vanessa Williams and Ana Ortiz, on an impromptu field trip – to the new store for some late-night shopping, of course.

“Edmundo makes one of the most comfortable, sexy shoes in the world, I can wear them and really walk in them,” Chow said, a statement proven correct after dinner. “I can never have enough.”
