NEW YORK — Tommy Hilfiger will feature a new onsert breaking Friday in the April issue of W magazine that speaks directly to the designer’s inspiration for his spring collection.
This story first appeared in the March 12, 2003 issue of WWD. Subscribe Today.
Shot in Mustique, the 24-page onsert features “fabulous beach clothes, skin-bearing halters and minis, and military shorts and swim shorts for the guys,” said Peter Connolly, president of marketing at Tommy Hilfiger USA.
The campaign was shot in various beach locations around Hilfiger’s favorite Caribbean island, where he has his second home, Connolly said.
“What the onsert does is tell the entire story of the campaign,” he said. “You see two couples in the morning arriving at the beach, then it has the story of these couples throughout the day. There’s a storm that comes up in the middle of the day and it finishes with a beautiful sunset and a ‘From Here to Eternity’ image.”
Photographer Carter Smith shot the spring campaign featuring models Gabriel Aubry, Liya Kedebe, Jason Shaw and Carolina Kurkova.
“[The onsert] really develops the synergy between the clothes, the location and Tommy’s vision, and how Mustique inspired the spring collection,” Connolly said. “It just all looks like it should be together.”
