DALLAS -- The entrance to Natura, a new health-conscious restaurant on McKinney Ave. here, makes it pretty apparent that chicken-fried steak and mashed potatoes aren't likely to be on the menu.
Two artificial 16-foot artichoke trees tower outside the front door, and a forest of artificial asparagus trees flank the foyer.
The menu takes a natural approach, too, with offerings prepared from organically grown vegetables, chemical-free meats and fresh fish flown in daily from Boston and Florida.
Check out the wild-mushroom and oven-dried-tomato pizza, $8.95; grilled chicken and roasted potato salad, $6.95; or red snapper and black bean tacos, $7.95. Entree prices peak at $16.95 for a bison steak with onions and mushrooms, but most hover at or below the $10 range.
Each menu item is analyzed by a nutritionist from the Cooper Clinic here, and a nutritional breakdown of each item is available for diners to review.
A decanter of purified water is brought to each table, and a state-of-the-art filtration system keeps the air fresh.
"People are very concerned about what they eat," said co-owner Janet Colgin."And they're price-conscious, as well," added Phil Cobb, Colgin's partner at Natura.
Natura serves breakfast daily and is open until 11 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thursday to Saturday.

Etro’s show, titled “The Tree of Life,” was a celebration of the house’s 50th anniversary. “My father founded the company in 1968, which was the year of counterculture and psychedelia. It’s really a show that celebrates that and the paisley design of India and its origin,” said Veronica Etro. #wwdfashion #mfw #ss18 (📷: @delphineachard)
