The pendulum swung from ladylike to racy at the Coalition of Los Angeles Designers (CLAD) fashion show held April 4 at downtown’s Orpheum Theatre, featuring the works of nine up-and-comers. There were va-va-voom looks such as the body-conscious halter dress fashioned from T-shirts with backside ruffles and strips and a Rigged by Barbara Horowitz design, to Starchild’s recycled denim fitted jumpsuit and the wraparound top and crocodile miniskirt by Mona and Company. The two other M designers, Madley and Mhope, kept the mood girly. Madley showed a crocheted beaded top and wool skirt while Mhope modeled its green tweed suit and dramatic mohair Empire ribbon coat.
