All profits from the collection, like those from the wristband, will go to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which supports cancer survivor programs and cancer awareness.
“Lance is a cancer survivor and one of the world’s greatest athletes,” Mark Parker, Nike Inc. president and chief executive offi cer, said in a statement. “In 2004, Nike created the Livestrong wristband, which has sold more than 70 million pieces to date and helped raise millions [of dollars]. Nike is proud to continue supporting the Livestrong campaign with this new collection where all of Nike’s profi ts from the collection will go to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.”
Beginning Oct. 2, the collection can be purchased at Nike stores, online at niketown.com and livestrong.org, and at some retailers. Prices have yet to be set.
Armstrong will wear the collection at the New York City Marathon in November.
“Nike has supported me since the beginning of my career, and throughout my fi ght against cancer,” Armstrong said in a statement. “I’m proud to be part of the next chapter with Nike launching the new Livestrong Collection.”
