Butter’s dramatic interior features cathedral ceilings, supper club booths and a seasonally changing mural of an American landscape.

A favorite among models and the hipster crowd, NoHo’s Butter has quickly become a hot spot since opening in late April on Lafayette Street in Manhattan.

The dining room features a dramatic interior, with cedar cathedral ceilings, classic supper club booths and a seasonally changing photographic mural of an American landscape. The American-fare menu, under the direction of executive chef Keith Harry, also changes seasonally and includes popular dishes like tuna encrusted in black olives with a lemon risotto.

And with a name like Butter, of course there’s a big emphasis on butter. Diners can choose from foie gras, herb, French cream and lemon zest for their bread.

“My menu is small and I’ve tried to put a lot of American and Asian flavors into it,” chef Harry said. “But I love a French influence, with rich and heavy food. Flavorful, approachable, direct and easy to interpret, that’s my style.”

Signature dishes include rich and delicious sauteed scallops with grilled foie gras; mache salad with smoked sturgeon and baby beets; roasted monk fish served with a gingered eggplant sauce and shitaki mushrooms, and grilled rib eye with shallot red wine sauce. Non-meat eaters can enjoy the grilled warm portobello salad with baby arugula and creamy ricotta falata cheese. Finish it off with the black tea tapioca served with raspberry marmalade and vanilla poached pears, and the milk chocolate walnut cake topped with milk chocolate and walnut mousse.
