NEW YORK — New York University’s fifth fashion conference, entitled “Fashion Legends and Legacies,” runs tonight through Sunday at the New York Academy of Medicine, 1216 Fifth Avenue, here.
The sessions, which willexplore designers, editors and jewelers, their bodies of work and their influence, feature such designers as Olivier Theyskens, Zandra Rhodes,Ralph Rucci and Gianmaria Buccellati.
Other speakers include Valerie Steele, director of the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology; John Loring, design director, Tiffany & Co.;Grace Mirabella, former editor in chief of Vogue; André Leon Talley, Vogue editor at large; Teri Agins, senior special writer for the Wall Street Journal; Laudomia Pucci, image director of Pucci, and Joan Kaner, senior vice president and fashion director at Neiman Marcus.
Moses Berkson will show a film about his late grandmother, Eleanor Lambert, who died in October at the age of 100, and illustrator Joe Eula will give a tribute to Lambert. There will also be a tribute to style-icon C.Z. Guest, who died last month.
The conference will include film screenings of “Yves Saint Laurent: 5, Avenue Marceau, 75116 Paris,” and “Yves Saint Laurent — Time Regained.”
The conference, sponsored by NYU’s Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts,kicks off tonight at 7 p.m. with a cocktail party and reception at Hermès at 691 Madison Avenue, celebrating 20 years of the Birkin handbag. Open to the public, admission for the entire conference is $355. Tickets can be obtained through NYU’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Program in the Arts.

For the holidays, @Burberry partnered with 20-year-old artist @blondeymccoy on a series of three outdoor murals in downtown Manhattan. The murals are McCoy’s interpretation of a Christmas eve party, the idea of charity and the spirit of family. His third mural, pictured here, is the most personal. In a partnership between the @metopera and the @englishnationalopera, “Marnie” was born. The opera, with costumes sponsored by @mrporterlive, is an adaptation of the 1961 thriller by Winston Graham. Arianne Phillips, who created the costumes, is no rookie: She’s styled Madonna for her tours and created costumes for a myriad of films in the past.
