NEW YORK — A memorial service for Anthony Vinci, former president and chief operating officer of Winkelman Stores Inc., based in Detroit, will be held Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at Christ Church in Gross Pointe Farms, Mich. Vinci died Sept. 20 at the age of 84.

Vinci, who started his retail career in 1947 with R.H. Macy & Co. in its executive training program, joined Winkelman Stores in 1952. Over a span of 35 years at the women’s specialty retailer, he rose to head up the company as president and chief operating officer.
A World War II veteran, Vinci retired from Winkelman Stores in 1984 and moved with his family to the Washington, D.C., area to serve as a volunteer senior adviser to the Executive Management and Special Task Force of the American Red Cross, a position he held for the next 15 years.
Vinci is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two sons, Richard and Stephen; two daughters, Vanessa Vinci and Valerie Ash, and three granddaughters.
