NEW YORK — Bruce Benton White, a former employee of Milliken & Co., died of cancer at his home in Spartanburg, S.C. on July 14. He was 81.

White, who had a degree in mechanical engineering, worked at Milliken for 15 years in the Fifties and Sixties, starting in Greenville, S.C., moving on to Gainesville, Ga., and in 1961 being relocated to the mill’s Spartanburg headquarters. After leaving Milliken in the mid-1960’s, he went on to serve as president of Fiber & Yarn Associates.

He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European theater.

White is survived by his wife, Helen Thomas; daughter, Lynn White Montari; son, Thomas McKinnon White, and five grandchildren.
