After serving World War II, Jacobson graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1950 and then was hired at Bloomingdale’s. Starting as a buyer of textiles, Jacobson went on to spend 21 years with Bloomingdale’s and was merchandise manager of dresses when he left to join Loehmann’s. He was with Loehmann’s for two decades in senior merchandising posts and was instrumental in the development of its European designer business. He retired in 1992.

Jacobson is survived by his widow, the former Gladys Gochberg; a son, Gary; two daughters, Sara Kozlowski and Michelle Rose; a brother, David, and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held April 27 at Temple Shalom in Norwalk, Conn.
