NEW YORK — Eddie Coyle, a former WWD reporter and copy editor, died Aug. 3 after a long illness. He was 76.
Beginning his career as a copy boy at the Daily News, Coyle overcame alcoholism through a long association with Alcoholics Anonymous. With the bottle behind him, he developed into a reliable, witty writer and reporter as well as a marathoner whose running columns appeared in the Daily News for several decades.
