New York — Pat Mathews, 58, who retired from Fairchild Publications in May after a career that spanned four decades, died Saturday.
The cause was a heart attack, said her sister, Jan Cowie.
Mathews, whose most recent title was General Manager, Advertising for W Magazine, played an integral role in launching WWD The Magazine, a new publication, and on a daily basis was instrumental in planning and laying out the monthly issues of W magazine.
Mathews started at Fairchild some 37 years ago as a secretary for WWD and "worked her way up," said Judy Ferri, a Fairchild colleague.
Visiting will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home on Quentin Road in Brooklyn, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at Resurrection Church on Whitney and Gerritsen Avenues in Brooklyn. A time has not been set.
Mathews is survived by her mother Gertude McCaffrey, two brothers and five sisters.
