NEW YORK — Leif Norgaard, founder and managing director of the Ikast, Denmark-based textile firm Novotex, died Aug. 25 of a stroke during a round of golf in Denmark. He was 57.
He founded Novotex in 1983, and in 1986 decided to focus the company’s business on the "Green Cotton" label, which marked a line of fabrics and apparel products manufactured in an environmentally sustainable way. Norgaard had also served as vice president of the Federation of Danish Textiles & Clothing. He is survived by his wife, Mette Dam.
