NEW YORK — Ora Feder, who began her designer lingerie business in Manhattan in 1978, died of ovarian cancer Oct. 6 at the Calvary Hospice in The Bronx. Her age could not be learned.

Among the last designers of handmade luxury goods for the boudoir, she specialized in upscale silk and cotton sleepwear and specialty luxe robes. Feder was among the first innerwear designers to offer a luxury line of sleepwear for men, as well.

Her men’s and women’s designs had been sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman, and at the Ora Feder boutique on Madison Avenue, until she retired in 1993. She later operated a custom-order business for several years in the late Nineties.

She is survived by a son, Danny; a sister, Hannah Rotstein, and a brother, Eli Neuman.
