NEW YORK — A memorial service for Rebecca "Becky" Stevens, former fashion director with Blumenthal Lansing Co., will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Church in Hackensack. N.J.
Stevens died Sept. 22 because of complications from multiple sclerosis, according Ellie Joos, a friend and former colleague. She was 59.
Stevens had been with Blumenthal, a manufacturer and distributor of buttons, from 1982 to 1997, when she retired because of her illness.
Earlier in her career, Stevens had been with the Simplicity Pattern Co. where as part of her duties she traveled throughout the country with the firm’s traveling education department promoting the art and craft of sewing. In the Seventies, she also wrote several books on sewing.
