MILAN — Simona Fendi Saracino, daughter of Paola Fendi, died Sunday morning of an embolus, or blockage in the bloodstream. She was 38.

After working at fur auction house Hudson’s Bay in Winnipeg, and training at fur centers in Copenhagen, Helsinki and Leningrad, Saracino joined the fur division of Fendi in 1988 and was involved in all phases of production. Saracino left the company three years ago for personal reasons. Saracino, who lived between Rome and London, is survived by her mother, Paola, and her brother, Alessandro, a lawyer in New York. Saracino is a grandchild of Adele and Edoardo Fendi, who founded the company in 1925.

Most members of the Fendi family, with the exception of Carla Fendi, sister of Paola, have left the business since LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton brought its ownership in the Rome-based luxury house to 84.1 percent in May.
