NEW YORK — Marnie McLaughlin, director of public relations for Victoria’s Secret Beauty, died Thursday from esophageal cancer. She was 34.

McLaughlin started her fashion career as fashion editor for YM magazine and later became director of p.r. for Franck Muller. She joined Limited Brands in 1998, as manager of p.r. for Victoria’s Secret Stores.

McLaughlin helped grow the brand’s presence in electronic media and was promoted to director of p.r. She left Victoria’s Secret’s lingerie division for a position as director of p.r. for Victoria’s Secret Beauty. She relocated to New York City in late July 2002 and was with the company for a little over a year.

“Marnie’s personality sparkled like none other, and this is a devastating loss for everyone who knew her,” said Sherry Baker, executive vice president, chief marketing officer, Victoria’s Secret Beauty. “Marnie’s unique combination of courage, wit, determination and intelligence will truly be missed.”

McLaughlin is survived by her husband, Pascal Condomine; mother, Maurine Abney; seven half siblings, and her pug, named Pierre. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Avenue here.
