Gen Art held its biannual New Garde event highlighting the collections of three local designers and firms, Jesse Kamm, Le Sang des Betes and JMary, which were shown on live models in a trio of rotating installations at the downtown Park Plaza Hotel. Kamm’s sixth collection, dubbed “Into the Bush,” featured Veruschka- and Lauren Hutton-inspired safari looks, which included pretty halter dresses and high-waisted shorts. Meanwhile, the sculptor’s eye of Trang Chau, who designs Le Sang des Betes, was apparent in the geometric lines and shapes of her black-and-white clothes: brushed denim cigarette jeans and asymmetrical pieces with an Eighties New-Wave feel.
