NEW YORK — Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. on Monday announced organization changes that included the elimination of the chief operating officer post. The company said the changes were designed to streamline the company’s operations.

In addition to those already reporting to chief executive officer Sally Frame Kasaks, will be the information services, real estate and construction departments. The responsibilities of Tom Kennedy, division president of PacSun, will now include oversight for PacSun store operations. The distribution center, global logistics and trade compliance departments now report to Gerald Chaney, sr. v.p. and chief financial officer. Former chief operating officer Wendy Burden left the company.

“Our objective is to improve the operating efficiencies of the Pacific Sunwear organization. I believe these changes will result in improved alignment of the company’s operations by flattening the structure and creating greater accountability at the senior management level,” said Kasaks, in a statement.
