ALBANY, N.Y. — Legislation that would have prohibited the purchase by state agencies of goods produced in sweatshops was vetoed Wednesday by Gov. George Pataki.

Pataki said, “the prohibition against state agencies from procuring goods from vendors who cannot document compliance with labor laws is problematic.”
