NEW YORK — Fashion week has its tents and off-site presentations. Now, People’s Revolution wants to bring a new dimension to the mix. Next month, the public relations firm is organizing a small alternative fashion show venue at the Altman Building event space at 135 West 18th Street here.

The initiative is not affiliated with 7th on Sixth. The company, which is known for representing many young designers without financial means for a large-scale production, decided to create a centralized environment for these designers to show their work. “I spent a lot of time meeting young designers who have a lot of talent and no money,” said Kelly Cutrone, owner of People’s Revolution, when asked why she initiated the project.

The shows will be held Sept. 10-11 and Sept. 14-16. So far, designers confirmed for the initiative are Scott, Feiz, Rachel Comey, Jennifer Nicholson, Costello Tagliapietra, A la Disposition, Morgane Le Fay, Kai Kühne’s Myself, Boy George’s B. Rude, Zaldy and Shelly Steffee, according to Cutrone.

The cost of each show will be about $7,000, which includes the lighting design by Thierry Dreyfus and set designs by Ojala. The low cost of the show will be made possible with the help of sponsors such as Flybook, a portable computer created by the Italian Dialogue Corp., and Sebastian, which will be the exclusive hair and makeup sponsor.

“Sebastian has always tended toward the cutting edge and avant-garde, so when the opportunity came to sponsor these designers that are less mainstream and very pure to their craft, we felt it was a perfect fit,” said John Moroney, Sebastian’s senior vice president.
