“I’m a mom now, I’ve grown up,” said Rachel Zoe, referring to her polished fall collection that she showed last week by appointment. Inspired by Mod-era Paris and London, her starting point was a black-and-white checked wool pantsuit with suspenders. From there, Zoe worked dark metallic tweeds, fur-trimmed bouclé, brocades, sequins and velvet into jackets, skirts and shift dresses and showed chunky knits and plaid bottoms for day.
Zoe also featured some non-leather takes on the biker jacket, redoing them in tweed and sequins. “As a stylist, I dress my clients and myself in a certain way, but as a designer I want to dress the women I’m surrounded by every day,” Zoe said. “They’re not wearing gowns with trains.”
Alberta Ferretti's "Rainbow Week" sweaters are back. The designer closed her #MFW show with a few day-of-the-week sweaters, which first debuted on the catwalk last January as part of the pre-fall 2017 collection. #wwdfashion (📷: @delphineachard)
