NEW YORK -- Services for Robert C. Edwards, 58, founder and president of Young Generations, Hendersonville, N.C., were held Friday in Hendersonville.
Edwards died Tuesday at his home in Hendersonville, according to Leroy Carpenter, director of marketing for Young Generations, which designs and markets dresses for infants through teens.
Edwards was president of Ruth Originals, Hendersonville, a children's dress firm, from 1970 to 1978. The following year, he formed Young Generations, which around 1986 purchased and subsequently absorbed the Ruth Originals company. It continued to market the Ruth of Carolina and Picture Me lines.
Edwards is survived by his wife, Sandra; his parents, Robert and Louise; four daughters, Elizabeth Louise Edwards, Susan E. Sangiolo, Leslie E. Coker and Ashley E. Thompson; a sister, Nancy E. Reid, and three grandchildren.
