Backstage at the Nanette Lepore show Wednesday morning, Polly Osmond had nighttime rockers on the mind, as she filled in models’ eyelids with Fluidline in black, and heavily lined eyes along the bottom. For the final, dazzling touch, Osmond, who was working on behalf of MAC Cosmetics, applied gray glitter to the lids using eyelash glue. “I’m going to be cursed by other makeup artists,” she confessed, acknowledging the staying power of the glitter.
Prior to the show, Osmond said Lepore had asked if they could use black or glitter on the eyes. “I said, ‘Why not both,’” recalled Osmond. “If there’s any excuse to use glitter, I’m there.” She used foundation to create a semi-matte base on the entire face, which was offset with a highlight of gloss on the cheeks and lips. “It’s a sexy, rock ’n’ roll look,” she said.
Hairstylist Jimmy Paul of Bumble & bumble complemented the rocker-glam makeup at Lepore with natural-looking, Pre-Raphaelite curls parted in the middle. “It should look like you just rolled out of bed but look fantastic, he said, as he sprayed a section of hair with Spray de Mode hairspray before curling it with a flat iron. He continued to curl the hair in sections, leaving the root flat.
What kind of girl wears this undone look well? Paul rattled off a list, including Kate Moss and Sophia Coppola.
