Graeme Black is in a nostalgic mood — and why not? Salvatore Ferragamo celebrates its 80th birthday this year.
Bringing to mind the house’s midcentury heyday, Black worked a cinched hourglass silhouette worthy of Rita Hayworth and Ava Gardner, two famous fans during that era.
His look was old school and ultrafeminine. Fine cardigans and perky skirts, some puffed up with petticoats, were a favorite combination, though he also tinkered with a demure Empire silhouette, sending out a handful of crystal-beaded dresses for evening.
In recognition of the house’s perennial star power, Ferragamo will receive the Walk of Style Award in Beverly Hills next month.
And, with its pretty approach, Black’s latest contribution to that legacy is one more step in the right direction.
