NEW YORK -- John W. Salisbury Jr. has been named president and chief executive officer of the Aris Isotoner unit of Sara Lee Corp.

He replaces David Bryan, who has left the firm. Bryan could not be reached for comment.

Salisbury will assume his new position as of Sept. 19 and will report to Lew Frankfort, senior vice president of Sara Lee and ceo of Sara Lee's Champion activewear, Intimates and accessories businesses.

Since 1993, Salisbury was senior vice president and general manager of the Vanity Fair brand at the Vanity Fair Mills division of VF Corp. Earlier, he spent 20 years with Playtex Apparel, which since 1991 has been part of Sara Lee.

A successor has not yet been named to Salisbury's Vanity Fair post, a spokeswoman said.
