Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has collaborated with K&G Creations in Boca Raton, Fla., in the debut of two jewelry lines.
They are Sarah Ferguson for K&G Creations, a 400-piece, fashion-forward collection, and the Sarah Ferguson Signature Collection, a 600-piece, one-of-a-kind assortment. Both will retail at shops operated by Finlay Fine Jewelry in department stores such as Macy’s, Lord & Taylor and Belk.
The pieces incorporate 14- and 18-karat yellow and white gold, colored quartz, Tahitian and Baroque pearls and Moissanite, a colorless crystal first found in a meteor and now produced and patented by the company Charles & Colvard. Styles are based on classic designs, as well as Deco and modern looks. Retail prices range from $400 for 1-carat stud earrings to $18,000 for a limited-edition, 18-carat necklace.
The duchess, who has a three-year deal with K&G, made an appearance Nov. 3 at Bloomingdale’s in Century City, Calif., for a runway presentation and trunk show.
“A lot of people say, ‘Why would you do Moissanite?’ and I do it because I think you can wear beautiful things and give people a chance to afford them,” Ferguson said. “That’s why I like it. Everyone would expect you to do diamonds.”
The duchess’ royalties from the line go to the Sarah Ferguson Foundation, which supports children’s charities.
“I really love the fact that, just by doing this, we can bring a smile to a child’s face,” Ferguson said. “That’s what revs my engines.”
