MODEL MARRIAGE: Just last week, Amber Valetta took the plunge; now 19-year-old Niki Taylor is planning to tie the knot. The hubby-to-be is Matt Martinez, 24, a "marketing executive and football player." A date has not yet been set for the wedding.
SPORTY THIERRY: Thierry Mugler, who's known for his suits with seamed-in sex, is making his first foray into casual clothes. Mugler, the collection, which was launched in Paris, is now being marketed to the States and will be shown to the press today at the designer's 58th Street showroom.
The line, which features such items as black and white cotton fleece sweatshirts and matching jogging pants, feather-knit white sweaters and black stretch rayon pants, has already been bought by Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus and is priced 30-50 percent lower than his regular collection.
MAN IN MOTION: Is Bergdorf's Burt Tansky going public? The man everyone expects to take over at Neiman Marcus -- hush, hush -- was spotted at Wednesday's Ellen Tracy show sitting alongside two NMers: Janet Gurwitch, executive vice president, and Joan Kaner, fashion director.
That's not so unusual since Bergdorf's and Neiman's are sister divisions of Harcourt General. But there is one curious note: Bergdorf's doesn't even carry Ellen Tracy. Neiman's does.
