NEW YORK — The fashion community knew it all along and will get further proof tonight: Shopping is most enjoyable in a magical environment.
The 7th on Sale Online gala tonight at Skylight Studios will literally be full of winter enchantment. Thanks to the film version of the C.S. Lewis classic “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” there will be life-sized props of bears, wolves, a rhinoceros and other fantasy creatures; clothing rails that resemble icicles, and mountains of fake snow (hey, Christmas is just around the corner).
The gala kicks off 7th on Sale Online, which will continue with an online sale on eBay through Dec. 7. It is being sponsored by Vogue and the CFDA, as well as Dolce & Gabbana, Polo Ralph Lauren, Kenneth Cole Productions and eBay.
“The space is amazing,” said Stefano Gabbana, who checked out the venue with Domenico Dolce on Wednesday. “It’s only possible in New York.”
Dolce and Gabbana, who have rallied other European designers to the cause, will come with Jennifer Lopez, whom they will dress in one of their gowns. The dress will then be donated to the cause.
And the crowd of 400 is expected to do plenty of shopping among the nine shops that will be set up in the venue, and display merchandise worth $6 million. Gabbana, for one, has already set his eyes on a Bruce Weber photograph featuring several men in baseball gear.

"That's something that resonates with me too because I'm so locked into a number. If I go over that number it completely ruins my day so it's nice to get detached from the number on the scale." - Chelsea Handler on Kelly LeVeque's book "Body Love." #wwdeye (📷: John Salangsang)
