Hairstylist Sandra Yu knows the designer Alexander Herchcovitch doesn’t want hair that looks trendy or too complicated.
“Wild hair is not his style,” said Yu. With that in mind, Yu created slick, yet intricate buns, complimented by colorful slabs of fabric just beneath the bun knots. Keeping hair pliable is the secret to a no-fuss bun. “The key is to comb it with something sleek,” she said, picking up a can of Rusk Being Sexy, a new hairs pray.
Makeup artist Philippe Chansel for MAC wanted a pop art look to go with the bold designs of Herchcovitch. Making eyes the focus, Chansel painted neon domes on eyelids (pink, blue, orange), with long fake lashes. “The line is based on Bauhaus, so I created a graphic half sphere for a Pop Art element, it’s a bit off center, with black liner, which is centered.” Neutral skin and lips let the eyes do all the talking.
