NEW YORK — Virginia Smith, vice president of public relations at Calvin Klein, is leaving the company on Friday to pursue other interests. She is the second high-level departure from the firm in two weeks, although Klein executives said the resignations are unrelated.

Smith, who has worked for Calvin Klein for six years, confirmed she is leaving the company, but said she has no immediate plans. “I’m looking forward to the summer and spending some time in our house upstate,” Smith said on Friday, referring to the home she shares with her husband, designer Patrick Robinson.

The company has not announced succession plans for Smith, its top public relations executive since the departure of Robert Triefus in 1999, or for Tim Gardner, creative director of design, who resigned last week. Prior to working for Calvin Klein, Smith worked in public relations for Anne Klein for eight years.”
