NEW YORK — Nicole Miller’s seven-year-old son, Palmer, was not up for going to Oxygen Network’s Custom Concert, featuring Sarah McLachlan and Avril Lavigne, at The Supper Club Tuesday night. But all complaints stopped when Avril hit the stage.

“His eyes were glued to Avril,” Miller said. Designer mom, of course, couldn’t help noticing Lavigne’s T-shirt-and-cargo-pants combo. “The girl’s got a style that shows she’s clearly not led around by her nose,” she said, despite the singer’s vocal antifashion stance. “She had red sneakers on — that’s a fashion statement.”

Miller was impressed, too, with the “amazing voice” and performance of Sarah McLachlan, who wore a sheer, black Roberto Cavalli top.

Performing songs from her fifth studio album, “Afterglow” — the first since 1997’s “Surfacing” — McLachlan was pleased to participate in the show, which airs Sunday night on Oxygen.

“I think the Custom Concert Series is a good opportunity for the audience to be interactive,” McLachlan said. “The audience gets to choose the songs and ask questions, and it’s not often I get to interact with the audience like that.”

Others at the event included Joan Lunden and former Miss America and “Stepford Wives” star Kate Shindle. Referencing the big news of the day, a Cynthia Rowley-clad Illeana Douglas noted her Yves Saint Laurent go-go boots were from the Tom Ford era.
