The gunshot tapping of flamenco dancing ricocheted around the Orangerie gardens Monday night as Dior feted its 60th anniversary after its couture show.
Although it was unseasonably chilly, giant vats of paella, flame blowers and hot-blooded dancers soon got guests into the party mood, as the show video was projected onto a curtain of water from one of the fountains.
Charlotte Casiraghi, Peter Dundas, Patricia Field, Giambattista Valli and Charlize Theron were among late-night revelers. Models, including Amber Valetta, Helena Christensen and Morgane Dubled, grazed on tapas, while an exuberant John Galliano streaked through the grounds near midnight, hopping on stage to join the dancers.
Milliner Stephen Jones, meanwhile, who spent six months working on Dior’s headgear, was already thinking ahead. “I’m working on a huge project with Comme des Garçons that’s never been done before,” said Jones adding he’s also finally pinned down a date for a major hat exhibition at London’s V&A for spring 2009.
