Getting a jump on the new season, Club Monaco showed its springpresentation on Tuesday.

Nautical and outdoorsy themesprevailed, with no shortage of sailor stripes and peacoats. The companyhas found that its customer is over overtly girly embellishments, sothis time, Caroline Belhumeur, senior vice president of women’s andtechnical design, made sure that shine was understated — a littlesparkle in subtle sequins here and there — with an emphasis onsweatshirts and chunky sweaters with leather details. Outerwear includedtrenches, also trimmed in leather, and motorcycle jackets done in silkand paired with scarf-printed silk dresses for a sporty-femininebalance.

For the men’s lineup, spring is shaping up to be moreelegant and sophisticated without losing sight of its primary customer.Aaron Levine, the new vice president of men’s design, said the idea wasto offer “cool stuff that guys from any walk of life can wear.” As such,the collection offered nubby shawl-collar sweaters, waxed cottonjackets, unlined blazers, distressed oxford shirts and khakis. Crinkledplaid sport shirts and an overdyed denim peacoat were also standouts.
