The Limited presented its spring collection on a gray Wednesday in New York, but the clothes were loaded with bright color and strong patterns. Senior vice president of design Elliot Staples had sportif on the brain, from the mod-ish Ponte dresses and pencil skirts to the more traditional lightweight suiting and silky sheaths the brand is known for; the clothes are set for a February-March delivery.

Staples was also optimistic about the brand’s Outback Red collection, a capsule that began in the Eighties and has been resurrected for spring. “It’s always been travel inspired and allows the customer to live vicariously through the location, which this season is Cuba,” he said, gesturing to a ruffled party dress and striped knit tops paired with cotton shorts.
