Adidas by Stella McCartney is teeing off for spring.
The German activewear giant and McCartney's collaborative line is entering golf, the latest sports category to be added since its inception.
"I think it is about time that women who play golf can now echo what they wear in everyday life on the green," McCartney said in an e-mail. "It's exciting for me to bring a bit of an edge to golf."
For the first time, the Adidas-McCartney collaboration will present during London Fashion Week on Thursday.
Like the other parts of McCartney's fashion-meets-active brainchild, the golf collection, inspired by men's traditional tailoring, will emphasize layering and use high-performance fabrics in subdued dusty colors with metallic accents.
The golf component of the spring line — which includes apparel, accessories and two pairs of golf shoes — wholesales from $17.50 for a glove to $125 for a jacket.
In February, the collection will hit about 600 doors, including Adidas Sports Performance stores, Stella McCartney boutiques, high-end department stores, selected sports retailers and — for the first time — golf stores. It is also available at shopadidas.com.
In February 2005, the first Adidas by Stella McCartney collection was launched for running, training and swimming. Fall 2005 added trail running and rock climbing, followed by tennis in spring 2006, winter sports in fall 2006, yoga and gym this spring and dance this fall.
The line is scheduled to keep expanding through at least 2010, when McCartney's current contract with Adidas expires.
Alberta Ferretti's "Rainbow Week" sweaters are back. The designer closed her #MFW show with a few day-of-the-week sweaters, which first debuted on the catwalk last January as part of the pre-fall 2017 collection. #wwdfashion (📷: @delphineachard)
