NEW YORK — Patricia Stensrud has taken the reins at Tommy Hilfiger USA Inc. as president of women’s and special sizes.
Stensrud succeeds Christa Michalaros, who resigned earlier this month as president of women’s sportswear at the Tommy Hilfiger Corp. subsidiary.
In her new role, Stensrud reports to Lynn Shanahan, group president for U.S. wholesale.
“Patricia brings over 30 years of sales and marketing experience and a proven track record for consistently growing businesses,” said Shanahan, in a statement. “Her wealth of knowledge will prove vital to successfully executing the revitalization strategies under way for our U.S. wholesale businesses.”
In November, the company said the turnaround of the U.S. wholesale business would be delayed beyond fiscal 2005.
Stensrud’s range of experience is expected to help that turnaround. Most recently, she was the founder and principal of Hudson River Partners, a real estate investment firm, and was previously ceo and vice chairman of Victoria + Co., a fashion jewelry business that is under the umbrella of Jones Apparel Group.
In that capacity, Stensrud worked with a number of fashion brands, including Givenchy, Nine West, Tommy Hilfiger and Karl Lagerfeld.
