MILAN — Celebrity makeup artist Stephane Marais says he is in talks to design a cosmetics bag for Emilio Pucci.

Marais discussed the project Thursday while working backstage for the Pucci ready-to-wear show.

He envisions doing bags in two sizes and two different color schemes for delivery in time for the holidays. The merchandise, which would bear Marais’ name inside, will be distributed in the Paris flagships of both Pucci and Marais and in the 10 Pucci stores in Italy. He added that distribution will be rolled out to Pucci’s other points of sale next spring.

The deal is expected to be signed next week.

“I love the idea of partnership sensibility,” Marais said, adding that he got in touch with Pucci while working with Christian Lacroix. “When I work with certain people and we have a lot in common, it’s a sensibility joint venture. I like to share with people who touch me. I function much better when I work like that. There’s a common excitement.”
