NEW YORK — Jo-Ann Langer, executive vice president of the Anne Klein II and A Line divisions of Anne Klein Group, will become president and chief operating officer of Susan Bristol on July 24.
Langer’s position at Susan Bristol is new, according to Robert Lurie, owner and chief executive officer of the Boston-based manufacturer. He will add the title of chairman.
Lurie said that Langer was hired to help drive the firm’s growth plans. He said he sees Bristol, a $50 million traditional sportswear firm, growing to $75 million to $85 million in the next two years. The company has been in business for 26 years.
Among the firm’s plans is a dress division scheduled to debut next January for spring 1995 retailing. The company also plans to increase its casual sportswear offerings by spinning off the category into a separate division, Lurie noted.
In addition, Lurie said, the private label division may be expanded. It currently comprises about 10 percent of the firm’s volume and counts Talbots as its major client. Langer will report to Lurie.
At Anne Klein II, she was responsible for merchandising and marketing and reported to Andrew Rosen, president.
A successor to Langer has not yet been named, Rosen said.
Langer’s past positions include president of Tahari, vice president of product development for women’s apparel at Bloomingdale’s, and vice president of product development at R.H. Macy & Co.
Before Macy’s, she was a divisional merchandise manager at the former Stix, Baer & Fuller, St. Louis, which was absorbed by Dillard Department Stores.
