Hansen will work in Dell’s executive offices in New York. She replaces Linda Beauchamp, who resigned last month to open her own consulting business, which includes Dell as a client.
Hansen was previously president and chief executive officer of Zoot Sports Inc., a triathlon apparel company based in San Francisco, where she worked for three years. Before that, she was premium global brand director for Levi Strauss & Co., managing its Vintage Collection, Red, Red Line, Elesco, Engineered and Sta-Prest labels.
“Julia brings with her a wealth of knowledge in the fashion industry and has a business acumen that is second to none,” said Susan Dell, ceo and creative director, who is also a sports enthusiast and triathlete. “We look forward to working with her as she expands her expertise into the women’s luxury fashion business.”
Dell began designing custom dresses in 1988 and founded the Susan Dell company in 1997 in New York. She introduced her first rtw collection two years later in her hometown of Austin, Tex.
