GORGA TO BURLINGTON: Burlington Industries Inc. has named Joseph Gorga to the new position of executive vice president of North American operations. Gorga, who served as chairman and chief executive officer of CMI Industries until the company liquidated earlier this year, reports to Burlington chairman and ceo George Henderson. Both Burlington and CMI are based in Greensboro, N.C.
Prior to joining CMI in 1991, Gorga spent 16 years at Milliken & Co. Earlier this year, Gorga stepped down as first vice chairman of the American Textile Manufacturers Institute. Had he remained in that post, he would have been in line to take the chairmanship of that group in March.
GLENOIT CHIEF EXITS: Larry Levine has left his post as president and chief operating officer of Glenoit Fabrics (H.G.) Corp. His duties are being divided between national sales manager Joe Zeoli and management of Shanghai-based parent company Haixin Co. A company spokeswoman said there were no current plans to fill the vacant post, which Levine had held since April. Levine could not be reached for comment.
