BOSTON — Target Corp. has agreed to pay a $95,000 settlement of a discrimination lawsuit brought on behalf of an employee with multiple sclerosis. In its lawsuit, filed in September 2001 in Minnesota federal court, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleged that the Minneapolis-based discounter refused to transfer Susan Stombaugh to a vacant position at another store when her disability interfered with her ability to do her job. The EEOC also claimed a Target supervisor disclosed information about Stombaugh’s condition to a prospective employer.

The EEOC has one other case pending against Target: a class-action, race discrimination case filed in Wisconsin federal court alleging that African Americans were deliberately not hired into entry-level management positions in Milwaukee-area stores, said EEOC regional attorney Jean Kamp.
