In the past five years, Thakoon Panichgul has been steadily building a name, and is cultivating an international following by fine-tuning his decorative ideas and giving modern deconstruction a delicate feeling. Retail worthy as much of his fall collection was — think shift dresses, silk blouses and polished jackets — there were also such unexpected items as sequined cigarette pants and a knit fox cape brightly dyed in the colors of a King Parrot. Last year, he teamed up with Target and Hogan for separate collaborations. Panichgul has managed to rack up his share of accolades in a relatively short amount of time. This year’s nomination is his third.
