The Mart tapped Brighton for the inaugural Special Achievement Award, which recognizes its extraordinary success over the past decade. The company has earned a record-breaking seven Dallas Fashion Award trophies for accessories since 1993. Having started with men’s and women’s leather belts, Brighton has since expanded into handbags, small leather goods, jewelry, home furnishings, shoes and, most recently, baby gear. The company sells exclusively to specialty stores.
Laura Young, director of sales and marketing, told the audience that she learned of the special honor from the Mart a few months ago via a letter from the management of the Dallas Market Center.
“I have literally read this letter to over 2,000 stores because we are so proud of this award,” she said.CATEGORY:

They comb the market for emerging trends, often starting at a grassroots level, then follow up with moderately priced collections. The company is known for prints and subtle stitching and appliqués.
What do a water shortage, horses, the jungle and Frida Kahlo have in common? They’re all inspirations to Dallas jewelry designer Dian Malouf. “I’m always inspired about something,” said the designer, known for bold sterling and gold jewelry. For spring, Malouf’s big signature rings feature colorful minerals. Currently, Malouf is working on a collection inspired by Mexico’s Day of the Dead, the holiday commemorating family ancestors. The inspiration came from her research and photography of historic Texan and Mexican haciendas for a book she is preparing.
