While it seems that everyone in Atlanta is going to MF Sushibar — don’t think of booking last minute, or even less than a week or two in advance — the wait is worth it. MF Sushibar (the MF stands for Magic Fingers) is so genuine there isn’t even a kitchen in the restaurant. The menu consists entirely of sushi, sashimi, rolls and a few salads, all prepared before customers’ very eyes.

Brothers and co-owners Alex and Chris Kinjo provide the brains and magic behind the restaurant. Alex designed the interior — a combination of Asian art and urbane sleekness —as well as the restaurant’s Web site and menus. Chris is the man with the magic fingers — he’s a sushi chef of ten years’ standing, having worked in restaurants around the country.
The sushi and sashimi run from the classic — including a sublime eel — to the exotic — at least for Atlantans. Toro (tuna belly) abalone and kampachi (very young yellowtail) are regular items on the menu, not just infrequent specials. Rolls, such as the Tony Roll with shrimp tempura, crab, and avocado ($10) might be a better choice for less daring palates. Sushi starts at $4.50 for a two-piece order; sashimi at $6.50 for three pieces and rolls at $5.50. An extensive sake, beer and wine list rounds out the menu.
