After a successful career in China, Xiao Wang, or Wang Xiao in correct Mandarin, is setting off on her third season of New York collections. Her experience shows. The 23-year-old from Beijing — she signed with Wilhelmina in 2009 and moved to New York four months ago — takes on castings with a professional ease. Yet in between it all, her bubbly personality shines through: “I love New York. I love the city. People are very friendly, you ask them for help and they do!” She also loves fashion. On a recent day of castings — 3.1 Phillip Lim, Honor, Jill Stuart, Rachel Comey — she was dressed in head-to-toe Zara (shearling coat, ripped jeans) and Steve Madden wedges. Next up after a modeling career? Fashion stylist, of course.
