As holiday shoppers scramble for last-minute gifts, fashion insiders know there is something to be said for appreciating what they already have.

Dipping into their closets to identify favorite items, several singled out accessories as that special something they can't live without. A few designers, including Maria Cornejo, Cynthia Rowley and Jenni Kayne, admitted their must-have pieces are from their own collections.

Preen's Thea Bregazzi
"One thing I definitely can not live without is my Smythson Bijou Portobello diary. It's a really great handbag size — but not too small — and it has a lot of room at the back for lists and sketches on the go. It is a regular present in my stocking each Christmas from [partner] Justin, but I think it's around $225."

Maria Cornejo
"I can't live without my leather Bibi jacket from the current fall-winter collection. It's deerskin and feels like a second skin. It's dark chocolate brown so it goes with just about everything I wear."

Tina Chai
"Right now I would have to say my Alaïa ankle boots. After years of only wearing flats, it's really fun to be tall and it's done wonders for my posture."

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada
"I cannot live without skirts, because they are very feminine. Also, I like T-shirts and leggings lately. They are great for traveling, and I travel a lot. I only wear my own designs."

Kacy Duke
, celebrity trainer and author of "Show It Love"
"I use a large brown City Balenciaga bag as a gym bag since I don't believe in basic fitness. I believe in fashion. The thing that is really great about it is that I can go right from training a client to a dinner and always feel very classic and chic. I would never want to wear anything that screams 'jock.'"

Jenni Kayne
"The charcoal oversized super cashmere blanket from my fall collection literally goes everywhere with me. I keep it in my car, I wrap myself in it when I fly, and it's perfect to throw over a dress on chilly L.A. evenings."Celerie Kemble
"My gray rectangular YSL purse with dirty brass hardware with hand straps and a shoulder strap is big enough to hide my heels, carry my laptop and haul over my shoulder, but is scaled perfectly. Also, the elephant color and soft gold bronze hardware work with every outfit."

Tina Lutz
"Marcia [Patmos] and I cannot live without our silk-cotton layering pieces. We like wearing the Becher camisole, the Kawara scoopneck or the Loos turtleneck. They are superfine and soft, and keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer."

Nicole Miller
"My Virgin Saints and Angels cuffs in gold and silver — they always make my outfit."

Fiamma Poltock, Poltock & Walsh co-founder
"I found my black leather and patent leather Chanel ankle boots on eBay for£60 pounds [unworn; about $121 at current exchange] in 2005. They're completely timeless."

Cinzia Rocca
"I just love this beautiful sterling silver necklace. I bought it at this very special boutique in Lago di Garda, Italy, where I live. The shop sells all one-of-a-kind, handmade jewelry from local artists."

Lela Rose
"I'm wearing Wolford tights often — baby, its cold outside. Christian Louboutin patent leather peep-toe wedges are the best shoes to wear on and off my bike — so comfy. My favorite accessory (living) is my dog Stitch. Not only is he cute, but he is also warm and always wants hugs. Another essential is my bicycle/Cadillac of Rickshaws. I can't get anywhere without it."

Cynthia Rowley
"My one must-have item is the cape from our fall-winter collection. It makes me feel like a fashion superhero."

Rachel Roy
"What I can't live without — sounds like my 'Oprah' episode, so this is all fresh in my mind. Nancy Gonzalez handbags are the perfect balance of chic, function and style. Roger Vivier large round sunglasses give the perfect amount of coverage. And peonies. They are my favorite flowers and bring lightness and happiness to the dreariest of rooms. I go to the flower district and buy them every week they are in season."Katie Walsh, Poltock & Walsh co-founder
"I can't live without my navy box-cropped tailored jacket by Robe de Chambre by Comme des Garçons that I bought at the Browns 2002 winter sale in London for 250 pounds [about $505 at current exchange]. It's a classic — I can throw it on with jeans and an old T-shirt, or over a little cocktail dress."
