Dubbed the City of Churches and boasting some of the best-preserved heritage architecture in Australia, it’s hardly a surprise that Adelaide, the country’s fifth largest city, has a passion for vintage. At several recent local events — from various parties to a fashion festival and burgeoning street market — bohemian, sometimes quirky types were decked out in vintage threads, or what one of them described as “pre-loved” merch. Denim cutoffs (often dressed up with black stockings, blazers and bombers) and floral dresses ruled, teamed with leather totes, slouchy workwear-esque boots and scarves, several of which were tied into turbans.
